Your mission:
The role will support Turkey Distribution Centre operations, with a strong focus on customs documentation, bonded warehouse coordination, broker follow-up, T1/transit readiness, and operational issue resolution.
The role will act as the daily logistics control point between the warehouse, customs broker, freight forwarders, transporters, distributors, and internal stakeholders. The main expectation is not only to follow up shipments, but to identify where shipments are stuck, understand the operational reason, coordinate the right parties, and drive practical solutions until shipment release.
What you will do:
Customs & Operational Problem-Solving Focus
Investigate and resolve common shipment bottlenecks such as:
- Missing or incomplete commercial invoice, packing list, ATR, EUR.1, CMR, LR, T1, MSDS/Data Sheet, COO or customs declaration documents.
- Customs broker delays, declaration amendments, incorrect shipment details, missing document handover, or unclear ownership between broker and warehouse.
- Bonded warehouse issues such as pallet/box/quantity mismatch, serial number or product information gaps, stock/document mismatch, warehouse transfer document gaps, and shipment release delays.
- T1/transit issues, including route/destination data gaps, consignee or forwarder alignment, seal/LR readiness, cancelled or reissued T1, and cut-off risks.
- Truck waiting time, loading delays, missed vessel or port cut-offs, urgent shipment holds, and unclear status between warehouse, broker, transporter and distributor.
- Repeated operational failures that require root-cause analysis, corrective action, and follow-up with the responsible service provider.
Daily Logistics Execution
- Coordinate daily inbound and outbound logistics operations for the Turkey Distribution Centre.
- Track shipments from order release to document readiness, customs processing, warehouse loading, dispatch, and final handover.
- Maintain clear shipment status visibility and identify the exact bottleneck: warehouse, broker, forwarder, transporter, distributor, documents, or customs process.
Customs Documentation & Broker Coordination
- Coordinate and follow up all required customs and shipping documents, including commercial invoice, packing list, ATR, EUR.1, CMR, LR, T1, warehouse transfer documents, MSDS/Data Sheet, HS code, COO and customs declarations.
- Work closely with customs brokers to ensure declarations, amendments, document checks, shipment files, and release processes are completed on time.
- Perform pre-shipment document readiness checks to reduce last-minute holds, rework, T1 issues, and cut-off failures.
- Follow up customs broker performance, pending actions, response time, document handover, and issue closure.
Bonded & Non-Bonded Warehouse Coordination
- Follow up bonded and non-bonded warehouse activities, including receiving, stock availability, picking, loading, documentation, and shipment release.
- Coordinate warehouse and broker alignment for pallet, box, quantity, product, serial number, origin, HS code, and documentation requirements.
- Resolve operational mismatches between physical stock, system data, and customs documentation before shipment dispatch.
T1/ Transit/ Export Shipment Support
- Support export and transit shipment processes, including T1/transit documentation, route confirmation, consignee/forwarder alignment, and document readiness.
- Track T1 preparation, cancellation/reissue risk, seal/LR readiness, and port/vessel cut-off timelines.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders and transporters to ensure vehicles are loaded and released according to planned timelines.
Issue Resolution, Escalation & Improvement
- Identify and resolve operational issues related to missing documents, customs delays, declaration gaps, loading delays, truck waiting time, cut-off risks and shipment holds.
- Escalate critical shipment risks with clear facts, business impact, root cause, owner, and proposed action plan.
- Maintain a customs and logistics issue tracker showing pending actions, responsible parties, ageing, and expected closure dates.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying repeated issues and proposing practical corrective actions with warehouse, broker, forwarder, and transporter teams.
Reporting & Visibility
- Prepare daily and weekly shipment visibility reports covering order status, customs status, document status, pending actions, ageing, owner, and next steps.
- Provide clear and timely updates to internal stakeholders on shipment risks, critical delays, and actions required.
- Support performance reviews with service providers by providing facts on delays, missed cut-offs, document issues, and corrective actions.
What we ask for:
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in logistics operations, customs operations, bonded warehouse coordination, freight forwarding, or import/export operations in Turkey.
- Strong practical knowledge of Turkish logistics and customs documentation processes.
- Experience working directly with bonded warehouses, customs brokers, freight forwarders, transporters, distributors, and 3PL logistics providers.
- Good understanding of import, export, transit, T1, bonded and non-bonded warehouse flows.
- Familiarity with invoice, packing list, ATR, EUR.1, CMR, LR, T1, customs declaration, HS code, COO, MSDS/Data Sheet, warehouse transfer documents and shipment release documentation.
- Experience in electronics, IT products, consumer goods, retail, or multinational distribution operations would be an advantage.
- Good Excel and reporting skills; ability to manage shipment trackers, ageing reports, issue logs and action plans.
- SAP, WMS or transport management system experience would be preferred.
- Fluent Turkish and good English communication skills are required.
- Hands-on, proactive and solution-oriented.
- Strong follow-up discipline and ability to close issues end-to-end.
- Able to work under pressure and manage urgent shipment issues.
- Detail-oriented and structured in documentation, reporting and status updates.
- Comfortable coordinating with multiple parties at the same time.
- Able to challenge service providers when needed and drive accountability.
- Strong sense of ownership, operational urgency and customer impact.
- Able to convert daily problems into clear actions, owners and timelines.
